- The Lead: Assumption shot a 303 to finish in eighth place following the lone round of the Penmen Spring Invitational on Friday. Saturday's second round was canceled due to inclement weather in the forecast.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Sophomore Andrew Sanzaro (Wethersfield, Conn. / Wethersfield) and Mark Bryant (Hardwick, N.J. / North Warren Regional) each tied for 20th by shooting a 75 overall. Ryan Fillebrown (Ayer, Mass. / Saint Bernard's) was third and one shot back with a 76.
Senior James Elliott (Gill, Mass. / Pioneer Valley Regional) shot a 77 to tie for 34th while Zach Magarian (Worcester, Mass. / West Boylston) rounded out the field with an 88. Scott VanDenburg (Valatie, N.Y. / Ichabod Crane) competed as an individual and shot an 80.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
- Franklin Pierce won the event with a 289, while Southern New Hampshire and St. Thomas Aquinas are both one shot behind with a 290. Wilmington was fourth with a 297, followed by Concordia (300), Le Moyne (301), Post (302) and Assumption (303).
UP NEXT:
- The Hounds will now await their fate to see if they qualify for the NCAA Regional Championships held May 9-11 in Greenburg, Pa.
