- The Lead: Assumption had each of its top four golfers shoot a 77 or better, led by sophomore Ryan Fillebrown (Ayer, Mass. / Saint Bernard's), as the Hounds took second overall at the Bentley Newport Classic on Wednesday afternoon.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Fillebrown posted a team-best 73 to tie for sixth overall in the event, while junior Mark Bryant (Hardwick, N.J. / North Warren Regional) was one shot back with a 74 to tie for ninth overall.
Sophomore Andrew Sanzaro (Wethersfield, Conn. / Wethersfield) and junior Zach Magarian (Worcester, Mass. / West Boylston) each tied for 14th with a 77. Freshman Lucas Roop (Gorham, Maine / Gorham) tied for 22nd with his 81.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
- Assumption shot a 301, its best round of the spring, to finish second behind host Bentley. The Falcons won with a 285, while Saint Rose was two shots behind the Hounds with a 303. Adelphi was fourth with a 306.
