Men’s Golf Takes Sixth at Penmen Fall Invitational

THE BASICS:

- Tournament: Penmen Fall Invitational

- Results 6th/13

- Dates: September 17-18, 2018

- Location: Hanover, N.H. (Hanover Country Club)

- The Lead: Assumption was in sixth place after the first day of competition with a 298 and cut eight strokes off their score on the second day to maintain their sixth place finish in the Penmen Fall Invitational.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

- Sophomore Andrew Sanzaro (Wethersfield, Conn. / Wethersfield) paced the Assumption squad with a 74 on the opening day and dropped his score to a 72 on the second day of competition to tie for 18th with a 146 overall.  Junior Mark Bryant (Hardwick, N.J. / North Warren Regional) used a second-day 69 to finish with a 146 overall and tie Sanzaro for 18th.

- Freshman Lucas Roop (Gorham, Maine / Gorham) posted a 148 (74, 74) with a consistent effort both days, while Ryan Fillebrown (Ayer, Mass. / Saint Bernard's) came through with a 76 on the first day and 75 on the second for a 151, tying for 41st. James Elliott (Gill, Mass. / Pioneer Valley Regional) rounded out the top five with a 157 (74, 83).

INSIDE THE NUMBERS:

- Assumption finished with a two-day score of 588, four strokes ahead of Providence and just two strokes behind Saint Thomas Aquinas who had a 586. Laval University won the event with a 561 while Franklin Pierce was second with a 579.

- The Hounds return to the links on Saturday when they compete at the Veterans Golf Club in Springfield Mass.
