Worcester, Mass. (September 30) -- Today the Hounds were selected fifth in the Northeast-10 Conference Pre-Championship Poll, after Assumption finished fifth in last year's in the championshp.
Head coach Brandon Parker enters his second season with aHounds golf team that has returned five upperclassman and added five freshman from last season's squad. So far this year the Hounds have placed 6th in the Franklin Pierce Invitational, and 9th in the Quechee DII Challenge. Freshman Connor Anderson (Raynham, Mass. / Bridgewater Raynham) placed first for the Hounds in the Franklin Pierce Invitational while sophmore James Elliot (Gill, Mass. / Pioneer Valley Regional) and senior AJ Cooney (North Branford, Conn. / North Branford), tied for second.
Elliot placed first for the Hounds in the Quechee DII challange and Mark Bryant (Hardwick, N.J. / North Warren Regional) placed second. Matt Wessenberg (Medway, Mass. / Catholic Memorial), and Justin Clutter (Bedford, N.H. / Bedford) have also competed for the Hounds in the past two tournaments placing them in 4th and 5th.
Southern New Hampshire was selected first with 76 overall points and six first place votes. Bentley took second place with 70 points, while Le Moyne was tabbed third with 67 points. Franklin Pierce was named 4th with 54 points
The NE-10 Championship will tee off on Sunday and continue onto Monday at Old Kinderhook Golf Club in Valatie, N.Y.
