Michael Hauser was promoted to Associate Head Coach in June of 2017 after two seasons as an assistant coach with the Assumption men's basketball team.

Last season Assumption finished 7-20 overall, highlighted by a 70-67 win at home over NE10 Finalist and NCAA participant Saint Anselm. Freshman Matthew Kelly led the team in scoring and was three times named NE10 Rookie of the Week while earning NE10 All-Rookie Team honors and WACBA Rookie of the Year honors. 

During the 2016-17 season, he helped the Hounds rank fourth in the NE10 in scoring defense (76.7) while going 7-21 overall. He was also instrumental in developing freshman forward Branislav Vujadinovic, who made the NE10 All-Rookie Team, as well as first-year freshman guard Patrick Fleming and sophomore forward Damien Rance.

Hauser came to Assumption after a year as an assistant coach at Stonehill College during the 2014-2015 season. While at Stonehill, Hauser oversaw numerous basketball related activities including film exchange, developing the teams weight lifting program, and overseeing the recruitment process of all perspective Stonehill basketball players. His efforts helped guide the Skyhawks to a 19-8 regular season record and a 2015 NCAA Tournament appearance.

Prior to Stonehill, Hauser spent three seasons at Division III Clarkson University (N.Y.). As an assistant coach he helped lead the team to three consecutive winning records in the Liberty League for the first time in five decades of conference play. During his three seasons as an assistant, the team compiled a 49-27 record and led the nation in assist-to-turnover ratio during the 2011-2012 season.

As a player, Hauser was a four-year letterwinner at Bowdoin, where he never missed a game in his college career, appearing in a school-record 105. The point guard helped lead his teams to a 67-38 record over four seasons and Hauser led the team in minutes each of his final three seasons while serving as a captain his senior season. He is fourth in program history in assists (415) and ranks eighth in career free throw percentage (.833). Hauser helped lead the Polar Bears to a school-record 22 victories during the 2007-08 season as the team upset top-ranked and eventual national runner-up Amherst in the conference semifinals while also reaching the second round of the NCAA Tournament.

Hauser graduated from Bowdoin in 2010 with a B.A in Economics and earned his MBA in 2014 from Clarkson with a concentration in supply chain management.
