THE BASICS

-The Lead: The Assumption College men's basketball team dominated on both ends of the court in a Northeast-10 Conference match-up with the Purple Knights of Saint Michael's College on Tuesday night. The Hounds outscored the visitors 45-37 in the first half and 48-37 in the second half to claim the final 19-point victory, 93-74.

HOW IT HAPPENED

-Assumption used a quick three-pointer from red-shirt junior Jordan White (Prince Frederick, Md. / Clinton Christian School) to kick-off scoring in the first half. First year Isiah Gaiter (Meriden, Conn. / Sacred Heart High School / Huntington Prep) extended their lead to five when he made his way down the court for a dunk at the 18:11 mark, 10-5.

-The Hounds went on an 11-3 run to pull ahead by 10 with 13:58 on the clock. White knocked down another three and hit two free-throws in the run as Assumption took the 21-11 lead.

-The Purple Knights used a 10-2 run, including two three-pointers by sophomore Jontai Williams and one from junior Walker Storey to pull back within two with 8:22 on the clock, 28-26. Assumption finished the half on a 12-5 run to take a 45-37 advantage into the halftime break.

-White and classmate, Malik Brown (Waldorf, Md. / Northpoint) led Assumption with eight points apiece in the first half. Gaiter, sophomore Cal Connelly (Rochester, N.H. / Spaulding / Tilton), and junior Matthew Kelly (North Potomac, Md. / Quince Orchard) each added seven points through the first 20 minutes.

-Freshman Kasai Brown went 2-for-3 from beyond the arc and put up 13 points to lead the Purple Knights in the first half.

-Assumption pulled ahead by 18 with just over six minutes off the clock in the second half, 59-41. White added a three and a jumper in a 14-4 run for the Hounds. Senior Jordan Guzman and red-shirt junior Thomas Jackson III each added three-points in an 10-point rally for Saint Michael's that brought them back within eight with 12:26 to play, 59-51.

-The Hounds pulled back ahead by as many as 25 at the 5:14 mark in the second half before taking home the final 93-74 victory.

-Gaiter led the Hounds in the second half with 13 points while Kelly added 12 and White put up another 11 points and went 2-for-2 from three-point range.

-Guzman added eight points in the second half for Saint Michael's.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS

-Gaiter led all scorers with 20 points and added three steals in the victory. White finished with a double-double as he put up 19 points and grabbed 10 rebounds for the Hounds. Kelly put up 19 points and went 3-for-4 from beyond the arc. Connelly finished the night with 13 points and Brown rounded out double-digit scoring with 12 points in the victory.

-Kasai Brown led Saint Michael's with 19 points and nine rebounds in the setback. Guzman finished the night with 16 points and Williams came off the bench with 13 points for the Purple Knights.

-Assumption shot 48.5% (33-for-68) from the field and went 12-for-25 from three-point range. Saint Michael's shot 45.8% (27-for-59) from field goal range and finished 13-for-27 from beyond the arc.

-The Hounds shot 78.9% (15-for-19) from the free-throw line while the Purple Knights shot 58.3% (7-for-12) from the charity stripe.

-Assumption outrebounded Saint Michael's 42-30 and scored 28 points off of 15 turnovers by the visitors.
