Faucher Announces Addition to Coaching Staff

Worcester, Mass. - Assumption Men's Basketball Head Coach Scott Faucher is pleased to announce the hiring of Garvin McAlister as an assistant coach.

"We are excited to welcome Garvin McAlister to the Assumption Community. Garvin is a passionate coach who has a variety of New England coaching experience. He is a great communicator who has always built positive relationships with his players," said Faucher.  "He has developed deep recruiting connections in New England and the DMV and will serve as our recruiting coordinator. Having an extremely successful division II playing career, Garvin knows what it takes to compete at a high level.  We are very fortunate to have Garvin join our program."

McAlister has an extensive coaching background, starting at Western Connecticut State University in 2014 as an assistant women's basketball coach where he recruited the eventual 2016 LEC Rookie of the Year. From WCSU, McAlister moved to Nichols College men's basketball where he was also an assistant coach. While there, he helped the team to their first NCAA Tournament appearance in 2017. McAlister's next stop was at Connecticut College in 2017 as an assistant men's basketball coach. 

McAlister had a successful career as a Post University basketball player. He ranks 2nd all-time in career assists, 3rd all-time in career steals, 4th all-time in game starter and 9th all-time in 3-point field goals made. 

The Hounds open up the 2019-20 season with a matchup agaianst NYIT on November 8th.
