WORCESTER, Mass. – Following an impressive performance last weekend, freshman Cal Connelly (Rochester, N.H. / Spaulding / Tilton) has been honored as the Worcester Area Basketball Association (WABCA) Rookie of the Week.
Connelly came through for Assumption in a 1-1 week, averaging 12.0 points, 4.0 rebounds and 1.5 assists per game while shooting 50 percent from the floor. The forward posted 16 points, five rebounds, one steal and one block in an 11-point win over AIC, before concluding with eight points, three rebounds and three assists in a loss to Saint Rose.
This marks the fourth consecutive week an Assumption player has earned Rookie of the Week honors and the third time Connelly has be selected overall. Connelly won two weeks ago, with Michael Speight (Morningside, Md. / Wise / Canterbury) earning the recognition the other two weeks.
The Hounds return to action on Saturday when they travel to face Le Moyne at 3 p.m.
