WORCESTER, Mass. – Following a pair of strong performances in a 1-1 week for Assumption, freshman Cal Connelly (Rochester, N.H. / Spaulding / Tilton) has been named the WACBA Rookie of the Week. It is the second time Connelly has been honored as such this season.
Connelly had an impressive week, averaging 16.5 points, 4.5 rebounds and 1.5 blocks per game while shooting 47.6 percent overall and 58.3 percent from downtown. The freshman scored 16 points with four triples, five rebounds, two steals and two blocks in a tight loss at Georgian Court last Tuesday. Connelly followed it up with a career-high 17 points, including three triples and four rebounds in a 23-point win over NYIT this past Sunday.
Assumption is 4-2 and looks to even its NE10 record at 1-1 when the Hounds host Saint Michael's on Wednesday at 7:30 p.m.
