Two Hounds Earn NE10 Honors

WORCESTER, Mass. – After a great performance in Assumption Field Hockey's games against Bentley and Franklin Pierce last week, junior Alexa Mulvihill (Westbrook, Conn./Westbrook) earned Northeast-10 Defensive Player of the Week and sophomore Kylie Gargiulo (Madison, Conn./Daniel Hand) earned Northeast-10 Goalkeeper of the Week, as announced on Tuesday.

Mulvihill anchored Assumption's defense during a 2-0 week. She stopped countless breakaways against Bentley, helping to hold the Falcons to five shots in the team's 4-2 win. Mulvihill followed it up by helping the Hounds earn a 4-0 shutout of Franklin Pierce while limiting them to just five shots, the Ravens' second lowest total of the year.

Gargiulo earned two wins this week with six saves and a save percentage of .750. She recorded her fourth shutout in Assumption's 4-0 victory over Franklin Pierce while extending her record to 6-1 on the season. Earlier in the week she gave up two first-half goals to Bentley, but shut out the Falcons in the second half of the Hounds' 4-2 victory.

Assumption faces New Haven on Wednesday, October 9 at 7 p.m.
