WORCESTER, Mass. – Assumption Field Hockey Head Coach Annie Lahey is excited to announce that rising seniors Sam Tepper (Stroudsburg, Pa./Stroudsburg), Courtney Sickel (Atkinson, N.H./Timberlane Regional) and Hannah McGrath (Londonderry, N.H./Londonderry) will be serving as captains for the 2019 season.
"I am very pleased to announce the captains for the 2019 season," said Lahey. "This group brings experience on the field and excellence in the classroom. Hannah, Sam and Courtney have passion for the game and have shown themselves to be great teammates and leaders. They are very active in the Assumption community and the city of Worcester, volunteering to help grow the game of field hockey through Worcester Youth Field Hockey clinics."
Sickel, Tepper and McGrath have appeared in 129 games total with 46 points over the three years. Tepper majors in biology and is the President of SAAC along with being a member of the Honors Program here at Assumption College. McGrath majors in English and is the SAAC Vice President. She is also a tutor in English writing at the Academic Support Center on campus. Sickel is a human services and rehabilitation studies major. The trio of upcoming seniors are all midfielders making them leaders on and off the field.
"They are prepared to take on the challenges that are ahead of us and achieve great success," said Lahey. "I feel confident that with their leadership, our 2019 season will be an excellent one."
