- The Lead: Assumption field hockey took over in the second half with three goals and eleven penalty corners to defeat St. Thomas Aquinas College. Three different Hounds scored goals while a total of five players earned points for the season.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

- Assumption had a hard fought first half, leading in corners (6-3) and shots (8-0). The Hounds controlled play for most of the half where Alexa Mulvihill (Westbrook, Conn./Westbrook) and Sam Tepper (Stroudsburg, Pa./Stroudsburg) led them each with 2 shots and pressured St. Thomas Aquinas goalie, Suzanne Clarke, who had 5 saves in the first half alone.

- The Hounds started out strong in the second half with another penalty corner just two minutes in to play and the Spartans answered with a penalty corner of their own seconds later.

- The game-winning goal came from Courtney Sickel (Atkinson, N.H./Timberlane Regional) in the 47th minute of the game off of a shot from the top of the circle that soared past the goalkeeper. The second goal came a minute later off of a penalty corner. Lucy Malia (Scarborough, Maine/Scarborough) got the assist off of a slip left to Tepper who sent a shot past Clarke on the right.

- The final goal of the game came from freshman Jenna Graf (Ballston Lake, N.Y./Shenendehowa). Her first career goal came off of a penalty corner that was passed to the right of the stroke where she sent her shot to the other post and scored. This goal sealed the 3-0 win for the Hounds.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS:

- Assumption goalie Sarah Bodzinski (Southwick, Mass./Southwick Tolland Regional) earned the win with 2 saves while Spartans' goalie Clarke ended the game with 11.

- The Hounds led the game in shots (19-2) as well as in penalty corners (17-5) with 11 in the second half.

- Malia and Isabel Primack (Ipswich, Mass./Ipswich) each earned an assist in the game.
