Football Tabbed Second in Preseason Poll

WORCESTER, Mass. – The Northeast-10 Conference football coaches selected the Assumption College Football team second in the league's preseason poll, announced by the conference on Wednesday. The Hounds finished fourth in the conference standings at the end of last season.

The Hounds finished with 54 points, including two first-place votes, following the voting. New Haven took the top spot with 63 points and seven first-place votes, just nine points more than the Hounds.

The coaches picked Pace third with 49 points, while Bentley and Southern Conn. St. were tied for fourth with 40 points each. Stonehill finished sixth followed by American International, Saint Anselm and Franklin Pierce.

Assumption is coming off a 6-4 season—the team's sixth straight winning season—where the Hounds led the NE10 conference in points per game (37.2), yards per game (415.9) and touchdowns (51). The team also returns All-Region Honoree Seamus Wallace (Pawcatuck, Conn. / Stonington), who also earned NE10 First-Team All-Conference Honors, as well as Second-Team All-Conference Honoree Jacob Tondel (Webster, Mass. / Shepherd Hill Regional) and All-Rookie Honoree Joseph Kellum (Mt. Laurel, N.J. / Lenape Regional).

This year, the Hounds will open on the road against Kutztown on Sept. 7 at 12 p.m. They will host Saint Anselm the following week on Sept. 14 in their first game at the Multi-Sport Stadium this season.
