WORCESTER, Mass. – Assumption Head Football Coach Andy McKenzie is pleased to announce that Friday, Sept. 14 the team will host a Youth Cancer Awareness Game when they face off against Saint Anselm in Multi-Sport Stadium.
September is Youth Cancer Awareness Month and to raise awareness yellow or gold and ribbons will be on sale at the entrance of the stadium to raise money for children who have cancer. Staff will also be wearing ribbons throughout the stadium. In the United States, 15,780 children under the age of 21 are diagnosed with cancer every year, and approximately 25% will not survive the disease.
This cause is particularly close to the Assumption Football program, as the Hounds' youngest teammate, Yan Perez, has been inflicted with cancer since he was a baby. Yan joined the team through Team IMPACT many years ago and the ten-year-old is still continuing his fight while also being a constant source of inspiration for his older teammates.
Assumption will kick off against St. Anselm at 7 pm on Sept. 14 in Multi-Sport Stadium. For information on tickets and how to attend click here.
