Jedidiah Scott Named CoSIDA First-Team Academic All-America

WORCESTER, Mass. – Senior defensive lineman Jedidiah Scott (Acton, Maine / Sanford) has been selected as a First-Team Academic All-American as announced by College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) on Tuesday, for his success on the field and in the classroom.

Scott was an anchor in the middle of the defensive line for the Hounds as they put together the most impressive season in program history this year. Scott appeared in all 13 games on the defensive line, making 20 total tackles with 2.0 sacks, 3.5 tackles for a loss and one forced fumble. He started each of Assumption's three playoff games, registering three tackles in each, while helping the team reach the NCAA Division II Quarterfinals for the first time in program history. Scott leaves as part of the winningest class in Assumption history.

Off the field Scott is an Economics major with a 3.82 GPA. He is member of the Massachusetts Chapter of Omicron Delta Epsilon – economics honor society, as well as an Augustine Scholar at Assumption. As a four-year member of the football team he has also been involved with Team IMPACT as well. He is the first-ever Assumption football player to earn First-Team Academic All-America honors and the first Assumption student-athlete since 2000 to be named to the CoSIDA Academic All-America First Team.

This year Scott was the only student-athlete from the NE10 to be named an Academic All-American. He was one of 13 from Super Region One and posted the third highest GPA of the eight lineman who were named to the First or Second Team. To view the complete Academic All-America Teams, click here.
