Deonte Harris & Cole Tracy Named AFCA All-Americans

WORCESTER, Mass. – Following a pair of record-breaking seasons, junior Deonte Harris ((Baltimore, Md. / Archbishop Curley) and senior Cole Tracy (Camarillo, Calif. / Newbury Park), became the first Assumption student-athletes to be named All-Americans by the American Football Coaches Association, as announced by the AFCA today.

Harris and Tracy earned their AFCA All-America honors after record-breaking seasons and leading Assumption to its first-ever NCAA Quarterfinals appearance in 2017. The Hounds were the only school from Super Region One to have multiple players receive AFCA All-America honors and just one of six nationally to accomplish the feat. Harris was named a First-Team All-American by the AFCA as an all-purpose specialist after putting together the most impressive return season  in NCAA Division II history. The junior had an NCAA Division II record eight return touchdowns this season – five on punts and three more on kickoffs. He established a new NCAA Division II record for career return touchdowns with 12, breaking the previous record of 11. Harris also tied the NCAA Division II record for punt return touchdowns in a season with five, and tied a NCAA Division II record by returning a punt for a touchdown in three straight games. In addition to his dominance in the return game, the NE10 MVP also caught 61 passes for 810 yards and eight touchdowns. His 17 total touchdowns on the year is the second-most in a single-season in program history, as are his 1,965 all-purpose yards.

Tracy, meanwhile, was named a Second-Team All-American after one of the best kicking seasons in NCAA Division II history. The senior posted the second-highest single-season point total in NCAA history, registering 148 points on the year. His 27 field goals are tied for the second-most ever in a single season in NCAA history. Tracy finished the year 27-for-29 in field goal attempts while making all 67 of his extra point attempts. He has the third most points among all Division II football players and 14 more than any other kicker. He was already named CCA First-Team All-Region earlier this year, as well as the NE10 Special Teams Player of the Year. His 67 career field goals are the second-most in NCAA Division II history.
