Football Ranked 15th in Latest AFCA National Poll

WORCESTER, Mass. – Following a tough 35-31 defeat at the hands of Bentley, Assumption dropped to 15th in the latest American Football Coaches Association (AFCA) Division II Poll, released on Monday afternoon.

The Hounds fell seven spots from last week's poll with 333 total points as the Hounds dropped to 9-1 overall. Bowie State, meanwhile moved up five spots from 19th to 14th with 353 points. Assumption is in front Wingate (N.C.) who has 285 points in 16th. Minnesota State maintained its spot at the top of the rankings while Super Region One teams Shepherd and Indiana (Pa.) rounded out the top three. To view the complete poll, click here.

Assumption fell 35-31 to Bentley in a back-and-forth contest this past Saturday. The Hounds trailed 21-10 early in the second half but fought back to take the lead twice in the final 20 minutes of action. However, the Falcons scored with just 1:34 left to secure the upset. Kicker Cole Tracy (Camarillo, Calif. / Newbury Park) led the team with seven points, to increase his nation-leading point total to 119 points.

This weekend the Hounds will host an NCAA First Round Playoff game, when California (Pa.) travels as the sixth seed in the region to play No. 3 seed Assumption. For information on tickets, click here.
