- Records: Assumption (22-14, 10-8 NE10), Saint Anselm (6-27, 2-16 NE10)

- Location: Worcester, Mass. (Rocheleau Field)

- The Lead: Seven shutout-innings from starter Mike Curtis (Wilmington, Mass. / Wilmington High School) and four hits from Dillon Koster (Woburn, Mass. / Woburn / Marist College) led the Assumption Greyhounds to a 5-0 victory over the Saint Anselm Hawks on Ari Schultz Day.

 HOW IT HAPPENED:

-Curtis stranded six hits while walking none and striking out eight in seven innings of work to pick up his fourth win on the year. Curtis received some good fielding early on in the win with teammate Hunter Tralli (Berlin, Conn. / Northwest Catholic) turning a double play all by himself in the second inning and Jake Hamel (Uxbridge, Mass. / Saint John's) gunning down Enzo Merlonghi trying to take home on a ball hit to third in the fourth. Curtis left six runners on base through the first four innings and sat down eight straight until Max Silverman singled with one out in the seventh.

-Koster went 4-for-4 at the plate with a double, RBI and run. After going 3-for-4 the previous day against the same team, Koster doubled to open the bottom of the second and later scored on a single to left-center by Alex Richardson (Rehoboth, Mass. / Bishop Feehan) to make it 2-0. He then singled in teammate Matt Schneider (Dalton, Mass. / Wahconah Regional) from second base as part of a three-run seventh that put the Hounds up 5-0. Schneider singled in a run right before Koster came up as well.

-Patrick Harrington (Bedford, NH / Bedford High School) relieved Curtis in the eighth and finished out the game, striking out three and allowing one hit and one walk in two innings of work. He walked Jack Dunklee with one out in the eighth and allowed Oscar Larranaga to move him over to third on a single to right-center. However, Harrington forced a pop-up to second and struck out pinch-hitter Ben Horsfall to end the inning untouched. Harrington then sat the Hawks down in order in the top of the ninth, striking out one in the process.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS:

-Koster led the Hounds with his 4-for-4 performance. Hamel had two hits and two runs and six Hounds had one hit each. Koster went 3-for-4 against the Hawks just one day ago in a 9-4 win, producing three RBIs and one run. In his last three games, which have all come against Saint Anselm, Koster is 7-for-10 (.700) with four RBIs and two runs.

-Curtis improved to 4-1 with the win. Tuesday marked his longest outing this season, while also setting a season-high eight strikeouts for the graduate. Harrington's three strikeouts in two innings of work gives him 31 strikeouts in 32.2 innings this year. He maintains a 2.46 ERA along with a 1-1 record and one save.

-Saint Anselm starter Preston Yerrington gave up two runs on eight hits in 5 1/3 innings and earned the loss, falling to 1-2 on the year. David Hunter relieved Yerrington and allowed three runs on four hits and one walk in 2 2/3 innings. Three hitters had two hits each for the Hawks as well.
