- The Lead: Trevor McQuade (Westwood, Mass. / Xaverian) hit a three-run home run in game one, produced a game-tying double in game two and later scored the winning run to lead the Assumption Greyhounds to a 4-2 victory in game two of their doubleheader with the Bentley Falcons after losing game one 8-3.

HOW IT HAPPENED: GAME ONE

-With his team down 5-0, McQuade sent a ball over the right field wall for his first home run of the year, bringing the game within two at 5-3 in the bottom of the sixth inning.

-Unfortunately for the Hounds, it was the only offensive action they would get in game one, stranding eight batters throughout. They started the seventh off with back-to-back singles, including a bunt single by Matt Lonardo (Cranston, RI / Cranston High School) to set up runners on first and second with no outs against Will Rossiter, who relieved starter Paul Frisoli at the start of the inning. However, the Hounds then went down in order the end the possible threat.

-Bentley gave themselves breathing room in the top of the eighth. With runners on first and second, Luke Figueira launched a ball through dead center to give the Falcons an 8-3 lead.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS:

-McQuade went 2-for-4 in game one with the home run and three RBIs, while Jared Brescia (Brentwood, N.H. / Exeter) and Lonardo had two hits each.  Game one marked the eighth time this season where McQuade had at least two hits in a game.

-MacGuire O'Sullivan (Durham, Conn. / Coginchaug Regional) made his second collegiate start in game one and allowed five runs (four earned) on six hits and one walk in five innings of work. O'Sullivan has now appeared in seven games on the season and has worked 21 innings with two saves. He is 0-3 on the year after earning the loss in game one.

-Frisoli earned the win for the Falcons, pitching six innings and allowing only three runs on six hits and two walks while striking out three. Rossiter earned the save after finishing the final three innings and allowing no runs on five hits and one walk.

HOW IT HAPPENED: GAME TWO

-After coming up big despite the loss in game one, McQuade was clutch again in game two, producing a game-tying hit while later coming home as the game-winning run in a 4-2 win. With runners on first and second and his team down 2-0 in the fourth, McQuade sent a ball to the wall in right-center field to score both runners and to tie the game at two. With two outs in the inning, Lonardo then drove McQuade home on a single through the left side to put the Hounds up 3-2.

-Assumption went up 4-2 in the bottom of the fifth on an RBI-single by Derek Adamson (Chelmsford, Mass. / Chelmsford). Their pitching did the rest. Mike Curtis (Wilmington, Mass. / Wilmington High School) left with the lead after six strong innings, allowing two runs on five hits while striking out three. Kyle Autilio (Saugus, Mass. / Saugus High School) finished off the rest, going the final three innings and allowing zero runs and no walks while allowing only two hits and striking out three to earn his first save on the year.

-Autilio also worked his way out of a jam in the seventh. With a runner on first, Jake Pierce hit a ball to short. Jake Hamel (Uxbridge, Mass. / Saint John's) fielded the ball and tried going to second with it, only to have no one there. Instead, Hamel threw to first, which allowed the runner, Max Troiani, to go from second to third on the play and Pierce to take second on the throw into third. With runners in scoring position, Autilio produced a groundout to second to end the inning untouched.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS:

-Curtis improved to 3-0 on the year after earning the win in game two. Autilio earned his first save on the year and has now thrown 11 innings of relief in seven appearances. He has struck out 10 within those 11 innings.

-McQuade finished his day 3-for-8 after starting both games of the doubleheader. Lonardo finished the day 4-for-8 with two bunt singles. He also went 2-for-4 in both games of the doubleheader. Brescia went 3-for-5 in game two to finish his day 5-for-10. He also extended his hit streak to 10 games and has hit 17-for-42 (.404) during the streak.

-Figueira hit his second home run of the day for the Falcons in the top of the fourth. He finished his day 2-for-7 with the two homers and five RBIs.
