Senior Andrew Jaehnig (Quincy, Mass. / Boston College) then singled to left field, placing runners on the corners. Sophomore Derek Adamson (Chelmsford, Mass. / Chelmsford) pushed the run across the plate, hitting into a fielder's choice and scoring Koster from third.

- The lead lasted until the third inning when New Haven tied the game, using two walks, a single and a sac fly. Chudoba pitched out of trouble in the sixth inning as the Chargers took the lead, when he loaded the bases with one out but coaxed a double play ball to end the inning, only allowing one run.
