Worcester, Mass. (May 1) -- The Assumption College baseball team dropped a 1-0 final in a pitchers duel against Saint Rose at Bob Bellizzi Field on Wednesday afternoon.
Freshman starter Santi Palmer (San Juan, P.R./Colegio San Ignacio) pitched a complete-game, allowing four hits, three walks, and one earned run, while walking striking out one as the hard luck loser.
Saint Rose starter Justin Brooks worked seven innings, allowing six hits and no runs, and the bullpen worked two innings of shutout baseball to hold off Assumption for the victory.
Assumption designated hitter Michael Filice (South Salem, N.Y./John Jay CR) went 4-for-4 on the day, while Nick Napoli (Medford, Mass./Boston College) went 2-for-3 in the game.
Assumption falls to 12-28-1 and 4-21 in Northeast-10 Conference play and will return to play on Saturday, May 5 against Le Moyne. The first pitch will be at 12:00 p.m. at Rocheleau Field.
