Sims Records Four Hits in Greyhounds Victory Over AIC

Worcester, Mass. (April 11) -- The Assumption College baseball team defeated American International College, 8-2, at Rocheleau Field on Wednesday afternoon.

Freshman Kelvin Sims (Manchester, Conn./East Catholic) recorded a 4-for-5 day, while senior captain Tim Quinn (Paxton, Mass/Saint John's) notched three hits in the win. Ysander Figueroa (Worcester, Mass./Worcester Tech) and Nick Napoli (Medford, Mass./Boston College) each had two-hit games.

The Greyhounds did their damage early, scoring two runs in each of the first four innings to jump out to an 8-0 lead.

In the first two innings, Assumption took advantage of three Yellow Jacket errors to put four unearned runs on the board.

Meanwhile, Assumption starter Dan Bradley (Moodus, Conn./Nathan Hale Ray) cruised through six innings of work, allowing three hits, while striking out five. After allowing a first inning single, he set down 13 straight Yellow Jackets and picked up his third win of the season. Bradley got help from his defense, which turned over three double plays over the first six innings.

With Bradley quieting the American International lineup, Assumption added to their four-run lead with two earned runs in each the third and fourth innings.

Napoli hit a two-run homer in the third inning to extend the Greyhounds lead to six, then tacked on two more runs on RBI singles by Sims and Joe Lopes (Warwick, R.I./Bishop Hendricksen) in the fourth inning.

The Greyhounds improve to 7-16 overall, while AIC falls to 10-15-1 on the season and will travel to Springfield, Mass. to take on the Yellow Jackets on Thursday, April 12 at 3:30 p.m.
