Hounds Drop 4-0 Final to American International College

Springfield, Mass. (April 3) -- The Assumption College baseball team fell to Northeast-10 Divisional rival American International College, 4-0, on Tuesday afternoon at AIC Park.

The Greyhounds were hurt by an error in the third inning, which led to two unearned runs charged to senior righthanger Nick Peters (Natick, Mass./Catholic Memorial). Peters scattered six hits and two earned runs, while striking out three over 5.1 innings of work.

AIC added two more runs to the board in the sixth inning, forcing Peters from the game, and bringing in reliever Kevin Mayone (Saugerties, N.Y./Saugerties), who set down the final two batters of the inning, but four runs was more than enough for AIC starter Matt Lee, who pitched a complete game five-hit shutout to pick up the win. Lee struck out five, while walking only one Greyhound batter.

Assumption second baseman Kelvin Sims (Manchester, Conn./East Catholic) found success against Lee, going 2-for-4 in the loss.

The Greyhounds fall to 6-11 with the loss, while AIC improves to 7-11-1. Assumption will return to action on Wednesday, April 4 as the team travels to Stonehill College. The Greyhounds will take on the Skyhawks at 3:30 p.m.
