Hounds Drop Pair To No. 7 Southern New Hampshire University

Worcester, Mass. (March 25) -- The Assumption College men's baseball team dropped both games of a doubleheader to No. 7 ranked Southern New Hampshire University on Sunday afternoon at Rocheleau Field.

In the first game, Ben Hastings (Norton, Mass./Norton) pitched seven strong innings for Assumption, scattering seven hits while allowing four runs while striking out three in a 4-0 loss. However, SNHU starter Junior Mendez pitched a complete game three-hitter to pick up the victory, striking out seven while issuing two walks.

In the second game, Dan Bradley (Moodus, Conn./Nathan Hale Ray) scattered 11 hits over 5.2 innings while allowing just three runs but picked up the loss as he left the game facing a 3-2 deficit. The bullpen gave up seven runs on the way to a 10-3 final.

Junior Shane Keddy (Worcester, Mass./Worcester Tech) went 2-for-4 for Assumption, while Nick Napoli (Medford, Mass./Boston College) went 1-for-3 and had a two-rbi single that put the Greyhounds ahead 2-1 after two innings.

Assumption falls to 6-7 on the season, while SNHU improves to 21-2 overall.

The Greyhounds return to the field on Wednesday, March 28, as the team plays host to The College of Saint Rose. The game will begin at 3:30 p.m.
