WORCESTER, MA — Interim Director of Athletics Christine Lowthert has announced that Lauren Neilan '15 has been hired as Assumption's new assistant director of athletic communications and marketing. Neilan, who played field hockey as an undergraduate at Assumption, graduated from the College with a bachelor's degree in English: writing and mass communications and a minor in marketing.

Neilan comes to Assumption from Clark University, where she was responsible for the publicity and promotion of 17 NCAA Division III athletic programs as the director of sports information. In this role, she created content for the athletics website and social media channels; produced videos; and managed game-day communications, among other duties.

"We are pleased to welcome Lauren back to the Greyhound family, where she will use the skills and talents honed in the classroom as a student at Assumption to further the Department of Athletics' mission," said Lowthert. "She has a marketing background which will assist in engaging audiences across a variety of platforms. We are looking forward to what Lauren will bring to the department and the ways in which she will assist in sharing the Assumption athletics story."

Neilan previously worked for Anna Maria College as a sports information graduate assistant and later as the director of sports information.  She also served as a sports information intern during her senior year at Assumption.

As a four-year member of the field hockey team, Neilan, a goalie, was named to the SGI/NFHCA Division II National Academic Squad in both 2013 and 2014 and earned a Northeast-10 Academic All-Conference selection in 2014. Neilan ranks seventh in career wins in the program's history; is tied for fourth for wins in a single season; and is 11th in goals against average. In her final season as a Hound, she helped lead her team to an NE10 playoff appearance.

She holds a Master of Business Administration with a concentration in marketing from Anna Maria.
