WORCESTER, Mass. – Assumption College had four student-athletes named NE10 Academic All-Conference for their performances on the field and in the classroom this past fall. Field hockey's Sarah Bodzinski (Southwick, Mass./Southwick Tolland Regional), football's CJ Herson (Plainville, Mass./Bishop Feehan), as well as Ania Spina (Wallingford, Conn./Mark T. Sheehan) and Johanna Caporuscio (Wayne, N.J./Wayne Hills) of the women's soccer team were all selected. The Academic All-Conference Teams were voted on by a panel of administrators from the league's 15 member institutions.

"Ania, CJ, Johnna and Sarah are tremendous student-athletes here at Assumption College and I'm thrilled the NE10 has recognized them for their successes in the classroom and on the field," said Jamie Marcoux, director of athletics. "All four embody the excellence we strive for as a department and serve as great ambassadors for the College."  

Bodzinski owns a 3.53 cumulative GPA as a political science major at Assumption and has secured NE10 Academic All-Conference honors for the first time in her career. The senior goalkeeper was named NE10 Third-Team All-Conference this season and posted a three-save shutout against top seed Pace in the NE10 Quarterfinals to help Assumption earn the upset in the NE10 Tournament. She ended the season with a goals against average (GAA) of 1.32, 101 saves and five shutouts. Bodzinski finished third in program history with 17 shutouts and is third all-time in victories with 33. She is fifth in program history with a 1.42 GAA and was named to the NFHCA National Academic Squad the past two years.

Herson, who has a 3.65 cumulative GPA as a business major at Assumption, has earned NE10 Academic All-Conference honors for the first time in his career. The sophomore tight end appeared in 10 games this season. He served primarily in a blocking role helping the Hounds lead the NE10, and rank 21st nationally, in scoring at 37.2 points per game. He also distinguished himself on special teams, where he made 11 tackles.

Spina owns a 3.70 cumulative GPA as a human services and rehabilitation studies major at Assumption and has earned NE10 Academic All-Conference honors for the first time in her career. This season, the senior midfielder was named NE10 Third-Team All-Conference for the second straight year. She also posted one goal and one assist in the team's 3-2 win at Stonehill and had an assist in the team's 2-0 NE10 Semifinal win over Southern New Hampshire. She finished with three goals and five assists this season for 11 points. Spina was also selected to the NEWISA Senior Bowl.

Caporuscio, who has a 3.98 cumulative grade point average as a psychology major at Assumption, has earned NE10 Academic All-Conference honors for the first time in her career. This sophomore midfielder helped lead her team to the NE10 Tournament with one goal and one assist in the season finale, which clinched the No. 6 seed for the Hounds. She helped the team advance to the NE10 Championship Game and concluded the season with three goals and three assists this season for nine points. She was named CoSIDA Academic All-District and awarded the NE10 Women's Soccer Elite 24 Award for having the highest GPA of any player competing in the NE10 Championship.
