WORCESTER, Mass. – Assumption College finished sixth in the 2017-18 Northeast-10 Conference Presidents' Cup standings released earlier this week, marking the fourth consecutive year the College has placed in the top six of the conference.
The Hounds garnered 160 points, the second-highest total in school history. It was just six points behind last year's record-breaking total of 166 when Assumption placed fourth. Merrimack won the Presidents' Cup with 181 points while Adelphi (172) and Stonehill (171.5) rounded out the top three. Bentley was in fourth with 169 points and Le Moyne took fifth with 168 points.
"Assumption Athletics has had another impressive year in the NE10 and I could not be more proud or excited to be working with this amazing staff and student athletes," said Director of Athletics Jamie Marcoux. "The hard work and dedication of our student-athletes is clear. This is the fourth year in a row we have finished in the top six of the NE10 and we have achieved our highest point totals eac of the past two years. We will continue to strive for excellence and be among the best in the NE10 athletically, academically and in our community, and I am looking forward to 2018-2019."
The Presidents' Cup is presented annually to signify overall athletic excellence in the Northeast-10. The honor is awarded to the institution that compiles the most cumulative points, based on finishes in the regular-season standings, from all of its programs competing in league championships.
Assumption claimed one NE10 Title over the course of the 2017-18 academic year, with football winning its second conference championship in the past three seasons. Seven teams in total made a conference tournament while women's cross country and women's swimming and diving each placed second at their respective NE10 Championship event. Men's and Women's Outdoor Track and Field also matched the best finishes in program history at the outdoor championships.
