Three Hounds Named NE10 Academic All-Conference

WORCESTER, Mass. – Assumption College had three student-athletes named to NE10 Conference Academic All-Conference teams for their performances on the field of play as well as the classroom, highlighted by football senior Jedidiah Scott (Acton, Maine / Sanford). The Academic All-Conference Teams were voted on by a panel of athletic administrators from the league's 15 member institutions.

Scott was named the Sports Excellence award winner for football to headline three Academic All-Conference selections. He was joined by junior Sara Amato (North Attleboro, Mass. / Bishop Feehan) of the women's cross country team and women's soccer senior Amanda Arnold (Saco, Maine / Thornton Academy).

"Sara, Jedidiah and Amanda are tremendous student-athletes of Assumption College and I am extremely proud of all they've accomplished not only in the classroom but also in competition," said Peter Gardula, interim director of athletics. "They've put in a lot of hard work and determination and I am excited to see the NE10 recognize them for their excellence."

Scott has a 3.81 cumulative grade point average as an economics major at Assumption and earns NE10 Academic All-Conference honors for the first time in his career. The senior defensive lineman was selected as a COSIDA First-Team Academic All-American earlier in the year after helping lead the Hounds to another NE10 Championship and appearance in the NCAA Quarterfinals. He helped the team finish the year ranked No. 9 in the nation and was part of a defense that led the nation in turnovers and turnover margin, while ranking fifth in sacks per game and 11th in scoring defense. Scott is a member of the Massachusetts Chapter of Omicron Delta Epison – economics honor society, as well as an Augustine Scholar at Assumption. In 2015, he helped the team to an NE10 Championship and the program's first NCAA win. Scott has been named to the Commissioner's Honor Roll multiple times.

Amato, who has a 3.99 cumulative grade point average as a mathematics major at Assumption, has earned NE10 Academic All-Conference honors two times in her career. This season Amato helped the team win the program's first NCAA East Region Championship, where she placed 58th individually. She also helped the team place second at the NE10 Championship for a second straight season. She was among the seven runners who raced at the NCAA Championship, as the team finished 27th overall. In 2016, Amato had the highest Fall GPA of all female student-athletes and helped the team to its first NCAA appearance and NE10 Runner-Up finish. She has been named to the Commissioner's Honor Roll multiple times.

Arnold owns a 3.66 cumulative grade point average as a graphic design major at Assumption. She has been honored as NE10 Academic All-Conference for the third time in her career. Arnold was named NEWISA All-New England and NE10 Second-Team All-Conference this season. In 2016, she was placed on the D2CCA Women's Soccer All-East Region Second Team, as well as earning First Team All-NE10 honors. In 2015, she was named to the NE10 All-Conference First Team. Arnold finished her career fourth in progam history with 90 points and third all-time in goals (35).
